The Dominafuhrer - THE GODMOTHER
Episode 3 - Sugar's White Wedding
Sugar had fulfilled her ambition to use her share of Himmler’s Gold to buy a large bar in
All my friends were there; Miss Spiteful and her New York Policeman lover, Tom McGiver; Kelly, her slave and my lover; Solitaire and Stiletto, without their husbands and Sapphire who was with Natalya, her Yugoslav girlfriend, now one of the leading tennis players on the world circuit.
Sugar’s and Jimmy’s Families and Friends made up the rest of the wedding party who witnessed the civil ceremony in the Prinsenhof before repairing to Sugar’s bar on the Leidseplein for the reception. The food was plentiful, the alcohol flowed, the band played, Sugar sang (I had never realised what a wonderful voice she had) and guests danced. Everything was very sedate at first but, as the evening wore on, ties were loosened and inhibitions vanished. The older guests gradually departed, except for Sugar’s parents. Her father was a tall white man with a weather beaten face, whose shoulders had started to stoop while her mother was a shorter, still beautiful and erect, grey haired lady whose skin colour reminded me of a creamy coffee. Both remained, smiling despite the unseemly behaviour around them, unable to take their eyes off their daughter.
Sugar wore a plain white satin wedding gown, which hugged her long slim figure and, when her veil was removed, proved to be strapless, revealing her honey brown shoulders and the golden swell of her bosom. When she eventually stepped up on to the small stage again and grasped the stalk of the microphone in her white gloved hands, there could not have been many penises in the room that did not react.
Mine and Kelly’s certainly did as we were holding each other’s in our hands at the time. We had abandon discretion and found a table in one of the darker corners of the room where we could kiss and caress each other’s bodies. I didn’t mind if David saw me, Kelly and I had hatched a plot over the transatlantic telephone to take care of him later. Sugar had asked us both to be her bridesmaids and had dresses ready made for us when we arrived in
Solitaire and Stiletto did not care who saw them, the former had also carried out her promise to pay off her husband and had moved herself and her children to
They had been inseparable all day and, having scandalised some of the wedding party with the way that they had danced together, were now passionately embracing on one of the couches in the bar area.
Sapphire and Natalya had been more restrained but now, both having imbibed heavily, were also seated together, cuddling and stroking each others bosoms and legs. As I mentioned before, Natalya’s sporting prowess had turned her into an international star and Sapphire travelled the world with her, sending us regular postcards from the
Miss Spiteful held court as usual at one of the tables; she did not seem to notice Tom McGiver’s exile at the bar, being surrounded by admiring male guests who plied her with drink, hung on her every word and rushed to do her slightest bidding. She looked as magnificent as ever in a pale blue costume with a hemline that defied current fashion but showed off her long, elegant legs.
A blast on Jimmy Roon’s trumpet drew everyone’s attention so that his wife could address them.
“Thank you everyone for making this a special day for Jimmy and myself. There are some of you here who can remember that this should have happened eighteen years ago and a few also know the reason that it did not.” Sugar hung her head for a moment and her bare shoulders heaved as if she was holding back a sob. For a moment I saw a look of concern pass across Miss Spiteful’s face but Sugar tossed her dark brown hair back off her face and resumed speaking.
“Many things have happened to us all since then but there are not words enough to express my thanks to the people to whom I owe so much so I am going to do it song.”
There was a scattering of applause as Sugar carried on.
“First of all there are my parents who did so much for me and had such high hopes and all I gave them in return was pain and disappointment.” The elderly couple shook their proud heads in disagreement but Sugar had not finished. “Yet they have forgiven me and told me that they have never stopped loving me. For them, Jimmy and I have this little medley to show our gratitude.”
Jimmy Roon went to another microphone and began to play ‘Oh Mein Papa’ on his own for the first minute or two until the band and then Sugar joined in. That real tear jerker was followed by the ‘Anniversary Waltz’ to which Sugar’s parents were encouraged to dance together and there was barely a dry eye in the house when the music ended.
“Next,” Sugar voice was a little choked. “Are a group of ladies whose nationality would make them very unwelcome in this country but they made me welcome in theirs, protected me against the greatest evil this world has seen and became my dearest friends. This is for them.”
We tended to forget that we had been part of that great evil until it had turned on us but we could still encounter hate just by being German. The Dutch people had suffered terribly under Nazi Occupation and we had all kept to speaking in English on this visit to
“Thank you, thank you”, Sugar acknowledged the applause and then held up her hand for silence. “Besides my Parents, there are three people in this world who I love most dearly and two of them are in this room. One is my husband Jimmy and the other is my greatest friend and the biggest bitch I have met.” The shocked silence was broken by Kelly’s and mine drunken giggles as we waited for Miss Spiteful’ riposte. Instead, she stepped up onto the stage and flung her arms around Sugar. I could have sworn that her eyes were glistening too but it could have been the light. Curious as ever, I was wondering who the third love of Sugar’s life was when she stepped back and, holding Miss Spiteful’s hands, sang ‘I’ll never stop loving you’. Tears ran down Sugar’s cheeks and it was obvious to me that it was not only Miss Spiteful and Jimmy that she was singing to.
