Episode 8 A Soldier’s Farewell

Bury St. Edmunds October 1956

David lit another cigarette each for us and fixed with a mock glare.

“As for me having sex with that Kelly, well that was your doing. Both of you trapped me into doing it. You know that I’ve been faithful to you Ingrid, from the day that I proposed to you in Bremen. Just as you have been faithful to me.”

I avoided lying to David by putting my head down and letting out a great sob. He put his arm around my shoulders and pulled me against his chest.

“Oh please stop crying, Ingrid. I told you, if the shooting has stopped by the tenth of November, nothing is going to happen to me. I’m going to come home to you. You go and have a good time in Norfolk with your friends. Have fun, forget about any war and keep out of trouble!”

In the distance, the Regimental Pipe Band started playing ‘The Campbells are coming’ and David looked at his wrist watch.

“Right, that’s to the signal to assemble on the parade ground. Come on, we haven’t got much time.“ He stood up, pulling me to my feet as well and undid the zip on my skirt, so that it slid down to the floor. He was pushing me over the kitchen table and tugging at my knickers before I started to resist.

“David! We can’t do this now. Whatever are you thinking off?”

Having disposed of my knickers, David was unbuckling his trouser belt and grinning at me.

“Lassie! What do you think every married man in the battalion is doing right now? And that includes the CO, the RSM, the Chaplain and the Supply Officer with that fairy accountant in the NAAFI.”

I had a momentary vision of the massive bulk of the Regimental Sergeant Major, who terrified every squaddie but could be as meek as a lamb in the presence of his diminutive wife, lying on his back on his kitchen table with his trousers around his ankles and being straddled by her, and chuckled.

David had his erect penis out by now and was targeting my sphincter. I waggled my bottom to facilitate his entry and then he was inside me.
